Mechanical bits

Here are some of the mechanical bits for the folding arm mechanisms…

The aluminum bars and washers were water jet cut and all the holes were left undersized so that I can drill them later. The rods are 1″ solid round and just need to be machined to length. The plans call for cotter pins to keep things together but I may do something different, like drilling and tapping a hole in the end of the pins and machining an aluminum cap to bolt in. Or even a cap to cover the cotter pins…..

I also have the limiting brackets (triangular aluminum bracket) welded up but I may weld in a gusset piece. Don’t know yet if I will paint and/or coat these aluminum parts and It might have been a good idea to make the ends of the arms a bit bigger so I could bore them out and use bushings.
